Woodever (with it’s original Dřevodílo name) was founded on August 28, 1945, as a purchasing and sales cooperative of carpenters from Rousínov. It was later registered in the Commercial Register on May 21, 1951. The company successfully built on the rich furniture-making tradition of the Rousínov region and gradually became one of the leading furniture manufacturers in Czechoslovakia and Central Europe.
Its production sites were located in Slavkov u Brna, Bučovice, Vyškov, and Rousínov. In 1971, the Rousínov plant expanded by acquiring premises directly from the United Art and Industrial Enterprises. At that time, demand for Woodever’s furniture was so high that customers sometimes waited up to three years for delivery.
After 1989, the privatization process led to the sale of part of the company’s assets and the separation of several entities that still reference Dřevodílo’s long-standing craftsmanship tradition today. The company needed to be stabilized and most of the production consolidated — first in Bučovice and later back in Rousínov.
However, production was never interrupted, nor did the company ever compromise on the high quality standards that made Woodever renowned. Today, the company is once again growing — expanding its production capacity, investing in its own development, pursuing sustainability, and entering international markets.
