Yin and yang home study

A study in a family house built on the yin and yang idea: two opposing forces in perfect balance. The architect worked the familiar symbol in as two half-circles that meet visually at a certain angle. Daylight passing through the openings completes it.

The study, which connects to the bedroom, was made to measure. With its non-standard shapes and a sloping ceiling, made to the millimetre would be closer to the truth. The main material is laminate in black and white, which we also used for the slats in the half-circle. We spend a lot of time in a working corner at home these days, so when you design one it is worth thinking about how you will feel in it and what sort of environment suits your work. Starting from harmony is not a bad place to begin.
