Children’s room in solid ash

Working with interior studio ATAK Design, we built a children’s room where the client knew exactly what they wanted from the start: ash. Ash has a strong, characterful grain, but its light tone keeps a room warm and easy to be in — which made it a good choice here. The room is shared by two children, so every centimetre had to count and all the furniture is made to measure.

The sleeping area is anchored by a solid wood bed with a small removable safety rail, made at the client’s request. Next to it are storage units and a bench with upholstered pads. We broke up the wood decor with cabinets in coloured laminate, which lifts the whole room. The desk is long enough to serve both children as they grow. Playful but practical details — netting, and oversized cabinet handles that double as hooks — give the room its character.

And the best feedback we can get? When the children’s room becomes everyone’s favourite room in the house. Children are the most honest clients there are.
