Family house interior

When we visualised this family house from the 1990s, the open, generous living space was the decisive element. The client wanted a masculine interior in dark, earthy tones with a touch of elegance. Furnishing a dark interior can be tricky, but with enough daylight the style works without ever feeling closed in.

Interior studio ATAK Design created a warm space in quietly mysterious shades. Everything was chosen to sit with the dominant floor — a herringbone pattern in a wood decor is strong enough on its own — so the scheme settles on a single earthy tone, a wood decor and grey stone.

The living room is defined by a generous bespoke sofa. The owners appreciate its size, but above all how practical it is thanks to the Aquaclean finish. A linear side light picks out the fitted furniture.

The dining table leads from the living area into the kitchen and ties the open space together. The kitchen decor has a metallic touch that catches the daylight and makes the whole space feel larger.

At the far end there is a conservatory looking out over an orchard, with a place to relax and a work zone.
