Another award for the joiners from Rousínov The offices of PKV took first place in the Office of the Year 2024 awards, regional offices category. Woodever made and installed the bespoke interior that turned the design of the architect into reality.

The Office of the Year award

The Office of the Year awards recognise the most interesting and best-designed workplaces in the Czech Republic each year. A jury of architecture, design and business specialists judges not only the look but also function, sustainability and the overall contribution a space makes to company culture. And those are exactly the qualities the PKV interior speaks with.

An interior as an energy laboratory of the future

Architect Andrea Pastrnek designed four floors of offices, 3,000 m² in all, for the energy consultancy PKV as an energy laboratory of the future. Our task was to turn her designs into something real. The result is a luxurious interior full of curved forms, gloss surfaces and bespoke furniture that combines visual quality with practical use.

Building under pressure

The PKV project had several features that set it apart from ordinary jobs. Not only its scale but above all its high demands on detail, technology and time. Non-standard elements were developed in parallel with production. Drawings were often made during meetings with the client and went into production within hours instead of the usual days. During installation we also had to respond to how ready the building was and to changing conditions on site.

The biggest challenge was curved furniture in a gloss finish. A gloss surface forgives no inaccuracy and reveals the smallest unevenness. We therefore used vacuum pressing, which bonded the laminate perfectly to the curved substrate.

In numbers, the project came to 12,000 hours of work, of which 2,000 were installation. Our joiners handled 6,000 m² of sheet material and more than half a kilometre of LED strip. Those figures capture the demands of the project well.

Valued recognition from a demanding client

It was clear from the start that we were working with a client who had a clear vision, refined taste and high demands for quality and detail. Jiří Pech senior, owner of PKV, set the bar genuinely high. The expectations were unambiguous: no compromises, a high standard and perfect execution. 

Which makes the words in his video review all the more valuable. In it Mr Pech describes the interior as the greatest challenge of the whole project and singles out not only the quality of the furniture but the collaboration itself, from technical solutions to the ability to respond flexibly to change. Feedback from a client as demanding and precise as this is of exceptional value to us.
