Podcast studio interior

This space brings together the base of a music label and the drinks brand Popstar Tea in a relatively small footprint. For this multifunctional interior we made non-standard tables, benches, a brushed stainless steel sideboard and birch plywood wall panelling.

The architects built the design around the ability to rearrange the room to suit whatever is happening that day. Sliding partitions in slim aluminium frames divide or open up the space as needed, while their coloured and translucent infills change the mood of each zone. The same principle carries through to mobile tables on castors, which work on their own or push together into a single surface for working and meeting.

The tables combine plywood tops with an exposed edge and rounded bases clad in brushed stainless steel. Making them meant bringing joinery together with metal forming and a precise join between the two materials. The same approach is used for the taller podcast table, which has an integrated cable channel to keep the wiring of the recording equipment tidy. Stainless steel appears again on the sideboard, finished with playful star-shaped handles.

The technical feel of the metal surfaces is balanced by birch plywood wall panelling. Its light tone and natural grain give the interior a welcoming atmosphere, picked up again by the benches under the windows. These use the perimeter of the room for seating and leave the centre free for changing table layouts. Together, the furniture and panelling create a consistent base for everyday work and meetings, while the coloured acrylic brings the Popstar Tea brand into the space.
